Ubuntu Summit 25.10 is coming to your circle of friends, from London

London calling… We have an exciting announcement about the Ubuntu Summit. We’ve been chatting with our community and contributors to see how we can bring our event, and the impact of open source, to even more people.
This year, the Ubuntu Summit is reborn – read on to find out what changes we’re making.
Twice the fun
As you might have guessed from this blog post’s title, our new naming scheme for the summit will follow Ubuntu releases. That means we’ll be timing each future summit with an Ubuntu release, meaning that from 2026, we’ll be holding two events per year.
So why go with this new cadence? Well, the world of open source is so fast-paced that one event a year simply doesn’t cut it. Having two summits ensures that we can keep up the momentum throughout the year and bring the innovation on a more regular basis.
One hub, endless locations. Remote participation that matters 🌍
That’s not the only exciting change for the summit. Beginning with Ubuntu 25.10, we’ll be hosting a summit that’s more reflective of the community as a whole: distributed and decentralized. Rather than a single event in a fixed location, we’re shifting to an online experience.
Whilst our hub in London will be where the demos and talks take place, the community magic will be wherever you are. We’re inviting LoCos and open source communities around the world to host Ubuntu release & watch parties, tune in to sessions together, and take part in real-time conversations. These local events are an integral part of the Ubuntu Summit, so much that we are calling them Ubuntu Summit Extended. This isn’t passive streaming, you are going to be an active participant of this event. Snap some photos of your local watch party, share your experience on social media, and we’ll bring your community into the story with our Ubuntu Summit social wall.
📍Are you already planning an amazing Ubuntu Summit Extended? Let’s make it unforgettable, together! Submit your idea and tell us how you’d like to celebrate. A select number of the most creative and impactful events will be eligible for special discourse badges and community support.
From London, to you. And back again.
Amazing talks from the innovators, the leaders, and the trailblazers 🎤
The Ubuntu Summit always brings together some of the most inspiring people in open source.
As with every year, you can expect compelling talks from open source leaders, builders, innovators, tinkerers and engineers. Past talks have:
- Transported us to Africa to see the impact of open source on schools, startups and communities.
- Taught us how digital designers can break free from proprietary software.
- Traversed a whole range of topics, from Rust and ARM64 to sustainability and the impact of open source on teenage lives.
The only difference is that with remote participation, we’re widening the pool of who can actively participate in our event. The speaker lineup for 25.10 is shaping up to be one of the best yet, so get ready to ask big questions and join the conversation.
Save the Date! 📅
